I'm not a big fan of being in a car. After my hips got bad, i get really nervous in vehicles. Especially when my pain level rises. One of my medications is making my anxiety even worse.
When i am on the road, i spend most my time looking out the window. It's spring, so the snow has melted and is filling the ditch like little ponds. Every time i see one stretching along the side of the road, i want to get out and kayak or canoe down the side of the road till i reach my destination. Of course there's the areas that have no water and that's a huge bummer and completely foils my plan.
I look at a lot of billboards. One in specific. This one.
Now, i'm pro choice. But, once you pass the first trimester, i do not think it's ok to have an abortion.
I totally agree, dude. Every baby is a blessing. But you know what this says to me? "Every baby is a blessing, even your Down Syndrome baby who is totally going to be a burden on you the rest of you life, I know you probably want to abort it, but don't. look how cute he is!!"
I'm offended by this. First off, it's unnecessary propaganda. Second, they put a picture of a child with Down's Syndrome on the billboard as if Down's Syndrome is some kind of awful horrible thing. It isn't.
i know a woman with Down's Syndrome who is married and has a kid of her own. To be honest she's a better mom than a lot of the women i know.
Just because someone has Down's Syndrome doesn't mean they're screwed the rest of their lives, and these people who made this billboard are making it seem like it is.it isn't the worst thing that could even happen to your baby.
Propoganda like this doesn't need to be out there. Every person who is Pro Life tells all these awful horror stories about baby's being aborted at 30 weeks. Not every abortion goes that way. In the US, they wont do an abortion unless it's under the first trimester.
If we ban abortion, we're gonna have more deaths caused by 'back alley' abortions where desperate women try to abort the babies themselves or have a friend do it.
Then there's the GOP assholes that say that if a woman is 'low' enough to get an abortion she is probably going to lie about getting raped just so she can get one. These are the same people who want to redefine rape.
What i'm trying to say is that: That billboard should not be there. But i don't think they're gonna take it down. I think the picture should be replaced with a baby who doesn't have Down's Syndrome because i think it's sending the wrong message.
